Reinvention
I took salsa-dancing lessons for the first time ever last night. It was a lot of fun. I learned how to do the basic steps the correct way, and also learned how to do twirls and dance with a partner...but my partner was unfortunately my roomate. Oh well. I'm looking forward to my next lesson on thursday. I have always wanted to learn some sort of latin dance, whether it be the Tango or the salsa, and i'm just beyond happy and excited that I finally get to get my feet wet a little bit in that arena.
Trying new things in general, is just awesome, and i'm loving it. I find myself being re-invented more and more each year and I never thought of it, but nothing is better than that. There are so many possibilities and opportunities for me out there, and i'm just learning to let my guard down and just go for them. You never know, maybe this will help me finally get a boyfriend. Haha. I kid.
I will be dancing in the homecoming parade tommorrow. My sorority decided to do two different dances for the routine, a hip hop dance and a tribal dance. I happened to be placed in the tribal group, with all the other previous non-dancers. Believe it or not though, our dance turned out way better than the hip hop group's dance, which is partially due to the fact that their choreographer integrated too much ballet and not enough hip hop into their routine, and almost the entire dance had to be changed...but you know what, I don't care, cause we're still kicking their hip hop asses! Haha. Fun stuff, fun stuff. This evening is our final rehearsal and i'm a little nervous, but pretty excited as to how the routine collectively turns out. This was all very last minute for us, so I doubt that we're going to win first place trophy, but i'm going to have fun with it anyways. Afterall, i'm not in it to win, but for the experience of it all, and it has been a great experience.
Today is also Halloween, meaning yours truly should be going out to a halloween party tonight...but sadly don't think I am. I, first of all, don't even have a halloween costume. I was thinking of being the devil, but I spent so much of my money on my Homecoming/Formal dress and shoes, by the time I even tried to find a cheap she-devil costume to buy, I didn't even have enough money to do so. And by the time I came back to school, I was so busy, I barely had time to go to the bathroom, much less take a bus to buy a halloween costume for not a lot of money. Because of this, I may just stay at the ZBT house and party with them...but then again, I had such a ZBT overload throughout this week (we are working with them on the dances and parade) i'm kind of sick of them now. Haha. I don't know what i'm going to do. But anyhoo, happy halloween, everybody! Take a shot (or two) for me if you can!
